Dekoloniaal Parcours (2026)
In honour of the resistance fighters and victims of Belgian colonialism, we place this site in context.
Seven places in Ghent, seven often overlooked perspectives. This decolonial parcours brings new context to sites connected to Belgium’s colonial history, honouring the revolutionaries who resisted it and the people who suffered under it. The parcours grew out of Nida, a collaboration between Collectif Faire-Part and Mondiaal Gent, through which Amelia Malfait Lakhtara and Rob Jacobs organised a series of artistic interventions across Ghent in 2025. The signs were designed by Mémoires Coloniales et Lutte contre les Discriminations, produced by Studio Part, with texts by Aliou Thierno Baldé and Eline Mestdagh, revised by Stephanie Collingwoode and Rob Jacobs, and finally edited by the City of Ghent.
